Winter in Peachtree City is mild compared to much of the country, but it still brings cloudy days, early sunsets, and kids who suddenly claim they have “nothing to do.” As a photographer (and a mom), I was always on the lookout for fun, simple ways to keep my kiddoes busy and engaged in something industrious during the cooler months.

If you’re looking for winter-friendly activities in Peachtree City, here are a few local favorites your family will love:


1. Visit the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater Trails

On mild winter days, the trails around “The Fred” are peaceful, quiet, and perfect for letting kids run, explore, and collect sticks. The light is beautiful this time of year, so bring your phone for a few photos. There is also a BMX track right there, and, when there are no events happening, it’s a great space to let your kids ride their bikes. If there is an event on the calendar, it’s very cool to watch the competition!



2. Indoor Play at The Bunny Hive

When the weather turns cold or rainy, The Bunny Hive is excellent for you to take your youngest littles (prewalkers to preschool age!). They offer a variety of classes which you can find here. Their classes are affordably priced, especially if you choose to do a monthly membership. Also, you’re able to host birthday parties there! It’s an all around great place to look into for year-round fun. Check out their website!


3. Storytime at the Peachtree City Library

Warm, cozy, and free. The children’s librarians do an amazing job creating a welcoming space for little ones, especially preschoolers. The calendar for storytime can be found here! Not only that, there is a beautiful space right in front of the library with a fountain to toss pennies into (a favorite activity amongst the littles) and a grassy area for running around or enjoying a picnic, if the weather is mild.


4. Hot Chocolate at Senoia Coffee Co. or Heirloom Donuts

Bundle the kids up, take a short drive, and enjoy a warm treat. Littles love the tiny cups of whipped cream. You can also stay at home, if you prefer, and whip up your very own. I’ve been following Lisa, the founder of This Pilgrim Life, for over a decade, and her recipe is a hit! Actually, every single one of her recipes is, so check it out! If you prefer and enjoy time at home the best (and that is absolutely, hands down my personal preference), those are the types of activities that make for such excellent in-home sessions. Baking cookies, making hot chocolate, engaging in something hands on...I always tell my clients that those are the sweetest and most authentic photos!












5. Explore Trilith

Walk the fairy doors, grab a cookie at Honeysuckle Gelato, or check out the little shops (don't forget to stop by Scholar &Scribe to peruse their excellent selection of kid's books). Trilith feels magical any time of year, and even more so with twinkle lights and chilly air. The kids can play in the play house and climb the rock formation and run, run, run on the ample green space in front of the pond. Not only that, but there is a great little playground at Trilith to keep them busy and happy!


6. Golf Cart Adventures

Peachtree City kids have one of the coolest childhood perks ever: golf cart rides. Take a slow ride through your favorite neighborhoods, play “I Spy,” and enjoy the fresh winter air together. In the evening, once the sun goes down, bundle up and drive the paths and enjoy all the Christmas lights. So many homes are lit up with all sorts of Christmas creativity (mine included, thanks to my sweet husband and kids!), and it’s a great way to wind down and be together.


Winter doesn’t have to mean staying indoors, we have so many sunny days here, rarely does it get cold and stay cold. Peachtree City is filled with plenty of cozy corners, hidden trails, and family-friendly spots for a great time! Bundle up, slow down, and enjoy this season with your people!
